Why does Proctorio set a password on the exam?
Proctorio sets a password on exams to prevent test-takers from entering an exam without being proctored by Proctorio.
By creating a password that is not shared with test-takers or faculty, the only way to enter the exam is with the Proctorio Chrome Extension. Proctorio secretly enters the password to the exam after the test-taker has passed the pre-checks.
The entire process happens behind the scenes and is completely obscured from the exam administrator and the test-taker.
The password should never be distributed to test-takers or removed from a proctored exam, as this could lead to other users taking the exam without Proctorio.
