Proctorio is a proctoring tool that is as easy to use as it is powerful. It ensures academic integrity by:
- Recording video of the student while he or she takes an exam
- Recording audio of the student's surroundings
- Actively locking down the test environment
- Reporting student activity (such as copy/paste or visiting other websites)
- Detecting abnormal behavior
Proctorio is a cost-effective means of creating a secure test environment. It can be implemented on an enterprise level (subscription package) or on a per exam basis (transactional model). The transactional model is paid for when a student begins the exam without requiring a contract, this allows the service to be enabled on any exam.
The Proctorio extension runs on the Google Chrome browser, is free to download, and will update automatically. Once the extension is installed, instructors are able to turn on Proctorio for any quiz or exam they want proctored. To take a proctored exam, students must use Google Chrome to access the exam and have the Proctorio Chrome extension installed. When the exam is complete, the quiz video will be available within the learning management system (LMS) for review, highlighting only the behaviors designated by the instructor within the exam settings.
- Proctorio is completely customizable. If the exam is an open note test, simply select the corresponding settings to set the appropriate restrictions and suspicion levels.
